It’s pretty much a well known fact that I love busting Disney’s balls. Even though they really are evil, I must in all honesty admit that my anger comes from never being taken to Disney World. Yet even through this unjustified animosity I have sworn personal vengeance against everything Disney. I will not stop until the Disney Corporation lies crushed and defeated by my harsh witticisms.
Today’s anger will be directed toward Disney’s attempt at reviving their animation studio, “The Princess and the Frog.” Now it is also quite known that I know next to nothing about black culture. I’m a dumb white guy. When I tell my current friends that I once had a black friend in grade school no one believes me, and rightly so because I have no evidence of it. For all I know he only existed in my imagination. But I like black people. I root for them at any given opportunity and get personally offended when I see shit like this:

That big lipped, black meanie is the newest Disney villain, Doctor Facilier. Now, but Mark, how can this be racist if the movie is about a black girl?
When the free-spirited, jazz-loving Prince Naveen of Maldonia comes to town, a deal with a shady voodoo doctor goes bad and the once suave royal is turned into a frog. In a desperate attempt to be human again, a favor in exchange for a fateful kiss on the lips from the beautiful girl, Tiana, takes an unexpected turn and leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana to the banks of the almighty Mississippi and back in time for Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
A truism that fellow blogger Tomb once said is that whenever white people get together to tell a story about a black hero they, in an attempt for ‘balance,’ add the most racists stereotypes into another black character. I think this is exactly what is happening in this movie. Yet, I think most of this movie is really racist from what I take from the Wikipedia page.
First off, you can’t call yourself a doctor if your only studies were ‘vodoo’ and ‘fortune telling.’ If I went around saying I was a doctor for those two things I’d get beaten up. Second, I’ve changed my mind and this movie is blatantly racist at every point. I just read that the only positive African character, the Princess, gets turned into a frog and stays that way for most of the movie. Bring up any bad memories, black people?
Of course it does. For anyone unaware, that song was usually performed by black actors when they were only allowed to play smiling, dancing butlers in films.
Let’s see, what else is there…..the primary black male lead is a villainous, scary voodoo priest. Black males are already viewed as ’scary’ and this movie isn’t really going to help erase that since it’s geared towards white children.
What else is there…the male lead is a Brazilian, or some mystical Spanish heritage, who is tempted by money (he gets turned into a frog because the villain offers him “the green”). So that’s probably racist.
So this movie seems pretty racist in my book. All the black characters love jazz which is something black people haven’t liked since the 1920s. That’s probably wrong and racist on my part, but at least I admit it. I don’t see why white people keep doing stupid shit like this. Not me, but the makers of this movie. The real racism that matters in this movie is that it is written and directed by two, old white males. Yes, I understand that Disney wants to revive their animation studio so why not go to the two guys that made all your hits (Alladin, Little Mermaid)? Good point Disney, but these guys also made Treasure Planet. Why not go to a young, black writer and let him make the movie he wants? If you want a revival then you need a fresh outlook. It’s why Pixar is making all of your awesome movies. They have new ideas and mold them into what they want instead of painting the same old portrait but changing the color of the main character. It’s fucking insulting, Disney. But this whole negative review can be re-written if you give the members of Stupid Idiot Jerk a free pass to your theme park.

In case you haven’t heard, someone wanted to sue Disney for not having a black Disney princess which I think is a load of crap because I don’t think it was intentional; there just wasn’t a good story line to fit specifically black people into. Obviously Disney isn’t racist because they have made so many movies containing different cultures (Lion King: Africa; Aladdin: India; Peter Pan: London…). So what you’re saying about the villain representing a scary black male is so stupid… what were they supposed to do, make a scary white male instead and discriminate against white people in the film? I don’t think they were discriminating against anyone at all in making the film, and the main reason they are making this is not to “revive their animation studio,” but to make other people happy so they don’t get sued. So if you want other people to have made this movie instead of Disney, then you can go tell the person that wanted Disney to make this movie in the first place instead of writing this ridiculous blog.
I’m no lawyer, but I’m pretty sure you can’t sue someone “for not having a black Disney princess.” I think they’ll be okay regardless.
I don’t think Mark “want[s] other people to have made this movie instead of Disney,” he’s just humorously pointing out that Disney makes racist characters a lot. Which they do. He’s on the phone right now trying to contact “the person that wanted Disney to make this movie in the first place,” but he’s not getting through. Weird.
Did the Little Mermaid have to be colored white? Of course not, because she’s a fish person. However, do you think they considered coloring her in as black? Probably not.
Also, Disney’s racism is minor in the character’s coloring. What’s really racist is the fact that Disney didn’t hire a black writer for this movie, or any of their other movies. Maybe it’s not racist as it is insensitive, but either way a black man can’t get a job.
It’s a cartoon so the villain could have just as easily been a talking mongoose, so yes it is a bit racist in its depiction. They could have just as easily designed the character off the voice actor’s appearance. Maybe they came up with the character before hiring the actor, but that’s not my cross to bear.
What’s ridiculous is this story of some unidentified person suing Disney for not making a movie with a black princess, and Disney actually being scared of said threat. That does not seem real and is not how the world works. Making a movie costs way more than any court settlement would have. Disney uses child slavery to make their merchandise. I don’t think they’d jump at some silly lawsuit that probably wouldn’t hold up in any court.
This upcoming movie is disgusting, why is Disney responding to the White House ’s pressure to brainwash people with multi cultural relationships? What if most Americans are tired to hear about it, especially with all the propaganda on TV since 2008 in commercials, shjows and movies? Isn’t there already the message everywhere we need to indoctrinate our little kids about this? Why do we need now to show a black prince going with a White princess or vice versa when we never did this? it will definietly irritate most of America which is conservative (not necessarily racist btw). Remember America voted Obama to fix the recession (where we see no result) not to promote his interracial agenda. Disney’s producers and artists are not even black it looks all too condescendent. Disney wont even call it ‘the black princess’. They have to hide the black theme under a frog. How misleading and hypocrit
I’m not sure Disney is responding to any White House pressure. It takes several years to make a movie, let alone a cartoon movie. This thing has been in production since 2006. I also don’t think Disney would want or even care to indoctrinate children into interracial relationships. If anything they indoctrinate children into buying more Disney products and nag their parents into taking them to expensive theme parks. This is debatable but more believable since everyone is out to get some cash money.
